Application for Residence Permit
International students who hold X1 visas must apply for a residence permit within 30 days at the Exit-Entry Administration of the Jiangning Branch of Nanjing Public Security Bureau. materials needed:
1. Original and photocopy of my valid passport (ordinary passport) and visa;
2. The school’s official letter and “Admission Letter” indicating the study period;
3. The original copy of the Visa Application Form for Studying in China (JW201 or JW202);
4. Fill in the Visa and Residence Permit Application Form for Foreigners, and paste a recent two-inch front-faced, bareheaded, white-background color photo;
5. Temporary accommodation registration certificate;
6. For applicants who have studied for more than one year and are over 18 years old, the original Verification Certificate of Physical Examination Records for Overseas Persons is also required.
2. Supplementary application of residence permit
In addition to the above-mentioned required materials, international students who hold new passports must provide the following materials:
1. Those who obtain new passports due to lost passports must provide the passport loss certificate issued by the exit and entry administration department of the public security organ or a note from the foreign embassy or consulate in China;
2. Those who get a new passport because the passport is about to expire or the visa pages are used up, etc., must provide the passport held at the time of entry.
3. Matters needing attention
1. International students who hold a residence permit can stay in China within the validity period of the residence permit, and can also enter and exit China multiple times.
2. International students who need to continue to stay or reside in Nanjing after the expiration of the visa or residence permit must apply for an extension to the Exit-Entry Administration of Nanjing Public Security Bureau before the expiration.
3. If there is any change in the address of the international student, the institution where they are studying, etc., they must apply to the Exit-Entry Administration of Nanjing Public Security Bureau within 10 days for the change of residence permit.
4. To apply for a residence permit, fees must be paid in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Exit-Entry Administration of the Jiangning Branch of the Nanjing Public Security Bureau.
5. International students who hold the reason of residence as study are not allowed to work or work in China.
6. For foreigners or responsible persons who illegally reside (stay) in China or commit other illegal acts, the public security organs will punish them according to law.
7. The exit and entry administration department of the public security organ has the right to refuse to issue visas and certificates to foreigners in accordance with the law, and has the right to revoke or declare invalid visas and certificates that have already been issued.
